Denver Criminal Defense Lawyer Steven J. Pisani opened his criminal defense practice in 2008. Since 2008, Steven has helped over 350 clients and has practiced criminal defense in more than 30 different Colorado courts, including 11 of Colorado’s 22 judicial districts. During the course of representation, Steven does not shy away from taking on the government and advocating for his clients through bench and jury trials.

Steven was born and raised in Manhattan, New York. Steven attended Brooklyn Technical High School and graduated with honors and a full tuition scholarship from the Junior Academy of Sciences to attend New York University. While attending NYU, Steven was admitted into the honors chemistry program and dual-majored in chemistry and political science. Throughout college, Steve worked two jobs: he was a volunteer researcher at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center working on breast cancer treatment; and he worked alongside his father in the construction business. Steven now uses his chemistry degree to give his clients an advantage in criminal cases involving forensic tests and scientific evidence. A complete understanding of chemistry is especially useful in DUI and drug defense cases involving chemical tests.

After NYU, Steven went on to work in the legal department for IMG, an internationally known entertainment agency. Steven followed IMG with a position at Morvillo Abramowitz, a well-respected boutique litigation firm specializing in white-collar criminal defense located in Midtown Manhattan. At Morvillo, Steven learned the basics of criminal defense from former U.S. Attorneys and some of the best criminal defense lawyers in New York. Steven went on to attend the University of Denver for his law degree. While at DU, Steven was the secretary of the Intellectual Property Legal Society, a member of the Moot Court Board, a student attorney in the Criminal Defense Clinic, an intern at the Englewood prosecutor’s office and a regional finalist in the National American Bar Association’s Appellate Advocacy competition.

Steven continues to be a student of the law, exceeding the standards set by the Bar Association for continuing legal education and striving to be the best criminal defense attorney.  Steven actively gives back to the community through pro-bono legal services as well as mentoring law students. Steven is married to his wonderful wife Rachel and enjoys New York and Colorado sports teams, travel, hiking, skiing and cooking.
